System Requirements

The full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt version 4.2.4 (or later) is required to use .nki instrument presets included in these libraries. These are all standard Kontakt open-format libraries, so the free Kontakt Player doesn't support them. However, the sample directories are all fully unlocked, uncompressed and completely accessible to allow user customization, import and mapping in other wav compatible software, sampler or synth formats. Also be aware that the special Libraries tab doesn't support these open-format Kontakt libraries, but you can use the standard File browser tab, or you can import these libraries into the Kontakt database and Quickload window for easy navigation and organization. Windows XP or higher is required for PC. OSX 10.6 or higher is required for Mac. Dual Core CPU, 3 GB System Ram, SATA or SSD hard drive recommended for the libraries in this collection.

Note: This software is delivered as a digital download. A broadband internet connection is required. Please see our Help Page for licensing information, download and installation instructions, tutorials and to read our End User Licensing Agreement before ordering. All sales are final.

Olympus Micro Choir is the official introductory pack to our mighty Olympus Symphonic Choral Collection, but it goes much further than that. This light-weight, user-friendly choir instrument stands alone as the perfect tool for musicians who just need a basic choir in their mix, without all the fuss. Divided into matching men's and women's divisi sections, Olympus Micro includes a classic set of great-sounding 'Ah' and 'Oo' vowel sustains, with both natural and smooth "pad" modes. It also offers a pair of synchronized Latin and Russian sustaining words (called "polysustains"), as well as 'Ah' and 'Oo' staccato syllables.

Featuring content from our acclaimed Olympus Symphonic Choir Collection, this choir was recorded in a large, natural hall with 63 hand-picked singers from SF Choral Society, Volti, SF Opera and the SF Symphony Chorus, conducted by maestro Robert Geary. The massive Olympus Choral Collection was designed for professionals in mind, with over 44 GB of content, over 40,000 samples and hundreds of distinct articulations to provide a total scoring solution ideal for any professional composer. We know how daunting such a huge collection can be and the significant investment it represents, so we designed this Micro pack as a fully functional and playable kit to offer just a taste of the enormous possibilities that our full Olympus Collection offers. Yet it can also simply serve as an great-sounding basic stand-alone choir instrument for anybody that just needs a basic full, warm choral sound with a world-class sonic richness and fidelity. Whether you're curious about our Olympus Symphonic Choir, or you're new to virtual choirs, Olympus Micro is the perfect low cost and easy way to begin your journey.

This library now supports 3 formats: Kontakt, Reason and the open source sfz format to make it accessible to everyone. While the primary features and content in this library are optimized for the standard Kontakt platform, the same great sound and core capabilities are available for both Reason and SFZ. All three formats offer real-time control over dynamic intensity, room/release time, dynamic volume control, syllable/word/vowel switching and more. With our full automation support, you can create entirely new phonetic combinations and syllable sequences. That means you can get as creative and complex with your arrangements as you like.

The Tuned Micro library a compact yet powerful multi-instrument collection focusing on a variety of our unique stringed and tuned percussion instruments. We took a dozen of the popular instruments found in our Stringed and Tuned Percussion Bundles and selected a core set of samples from each that offer a good introduction to the signature style, flavor, tone and quality you can expect from our full libraries. You'll find a useful taste of Bamblong, Circlebells, Cylindrum, Imbibaphones, Kalimba, Music Box, The Struck Grand, Toy Glockenspiel, Twine Bass, Waterharp, Whaledrum and Zitherette. These products can be heard in a long list of films, television shows, video games, trailers, commercials, and records around the world. Click Here for mp3 demos.

Each of these instruments were recorded in a variety of locations, from dry studios to underground artillery bunkers. We used high quality Neumann large diaphragm condenser microphones in wide stereo for full clarity, presence and body to allow easy custom arrangement and mixing. The libraries that these samples are drawn from are all rigorously sampled, with full key range recording, deep dynamic velocity layering and plenty of round-robin variations per layer. Soundiron libraries are widely known for rigorous deep sampling, so while Tuned Micro's sample pool has been streamlined to an optimal 2 round-robins and 2-4 velocity layers each, every instrument is carefully programmed to preserve organic playability and dynamic responsiveness. Whether you've been curious about our multi-sample instrument libraries and are still on the fence, you're just now learning about us, or you're just looking for a few great new sounds to play around with, Tuned Micro is the perfect low cost and easy way to begin your journey.

The Tuned Micro library has been programmed with a very unique interface that combines some of our most powerful design features. First, we've provided a dual-layer matrix that allows any of the 20 individual instrument articulations available in Tuned Micro to be loaded and played instantly on demand. With two independently controllable layers, you can load and play any two articulations simultaneously (such as the Bamblong and Water Harp), with customizable volume, attack, start offset, release gating and pitch-shifting for each layer. Each of the controls can be automated and changed in real-time, allowing truly unique sonic possibilities.

Olympus Mike-Ro Solo a super ultra-premium virtuoso tenor solo vocal library for Kontakt. After over two years in the making, we've finally unveiled this true masterpiece! This righteous tower of awesome brings cutting edge vocal technology and pristine vocal acrobatics together into a glorious package of amazing musical perfection...

But seriously, Olympus Mike-ro Solo Tenor is just a fun yet totally functional Kontakt micropack that shows a little of what goes on behind the scenes here at Soundiron, as we research new vocal production and sampling methods. When you’re dragging a full choir into a hall to record, it’s generally a good idea to have an idea of what you want them to do before you roll tape. Soundiron’s official in-house trained monkey (Mike Peaslee) likes to fancy himself a singer, usually somewhere in the tenor range. Since he was sadly born without a sense of shame or decorum, he's literally willing to do anything on command if somebody’s recording it. So we tend to use him as a human guinea pig quite a bit.

What you’ll find here is a collection of 5 poly-sustain chants, with Latin and Slavonic Russian content, along with common vowel sustains (Ah, Eh, Oh, Oo) that we recorded during the production of our Olympus Symphonic Choir. These tests helped to inform our approach to editing, recording and programming for solo voice in a hall environment and what we ended up with is a nice little -- and quite useful -- vocal library.

Despite it's humble size and scope, this little treat has all the advanced features of our more serious Olympus MIcro Choir. We provide real-time control over dynamic intensity, tempo, playback start position, room decay time and volume, legato transitions, and more. With our full automation support, you can create entirely new phonetic combinations and syllable sequences from the raw material provided here. Full automation support means you can get as creative and complex with your arrangements as you like. The legato system is designed to be fluid for the sustains and automatically phrase-synchronous for the polysustains, so you can play melodies as Mike shamelessly progresses naturally through rhythmic Latin/Russian phrasing.

This Elvish Choir library is pretty much exactly what it sounds like it should be all about: A pack of rowdy elven folk singing as an ensemble, with sustains, short staccatos and long staccatos/semi-marcatos in multiple dynamics over a fairly wide range. Also included are meaty shout/yelp impacts created through a little excessive hammer on elf groin violence. We recorded this little beast with the help of a little spiced seasonal ale and a whole lot of helium. It's perfect for holiday, comedy and parody music and those who are searching for fresh and weird source material for sound design and experimentation. Originally released by Tonehammer in 2009, vast amounts of helium were inhaled by our team of performers in order to record this library. What this means is we go so far as to ingest foreign substances into our bodies in order to provide a unique, powerful musical experience.

The Luftballon is a wind, percussion and sfx library that was created with classic latex rubber balloons. We recorded inflation, pops, hisses, wheezes, twists, squeals, pulls, deflation flubbers, farts, screeches, scrapes, thuds, thumps, taps, snaps and other percussion, sustaining and tonal elements. Equal parts "wind", sound effect and percussion library, this library is filled to bursting with creative potential. This collection was produced with the help of somewhere around 100 hundred party balloons, blown up wit helium into all sorts of different shapes and sizes. We recorded each one with large diaphragm mics placed at close proximity in a wide X-Y stereo field to capture an especially aggressive and dynamic sound. It was originally released by Tonehammer in 2009 at part of the Microhammer series.

The Snow Drums library is a unique collection of snow and ice impacts, skitters, crunches, slides, ice cracks and other frosty sounds, that we recorded, edited and programmed to create a unit sort of organic drum kit. They work especially well when used creatively in place of traditional kicks, snares and hi-hats or as pure sound design source material. The library is programmed to allow for percussive playability, yet is also organized logically to allow use as more conventional sound effects library.

The Wintery pond instruments were created by recording a variety of stones, ice chunks and pebbles skittering over the surface of a large frozen pond in a narrow canyon, high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The results are quite surprising, as the sound waves travel over the ice and off of the canyon walls in very unusual ways. As the stones bounce away from the listening position, across the ice to the far side of the pond, the impacts take on a spring-like Doppler effect. We were on a little day trip during the holidays when we stopped by the pond for a rest and discovered this cool natural sonic effect, just by chance. All in all, this strange source material is quite interesting, creatively useful and rather musical.

The PVC Beatbox Ensemble was created by assembling a vocal ensemble and vocalizing through long, elaborately hand-built pvc pipe "trumpets" to create drones, dirges, booms, horn blasts, drum kit-like percussive chuffs, thumps, hisses, pops and steam effects. We gathered our usual ensemble percussion crew together in a large "epic" glass and tile hall with lush natural reverberation, assembling strange maze-like tangles of pipe using a ton of plastic PVC tubing and fittings and then attempting to beatbox through it all. The best word to describe the result would be STEAM DRUMS. Originally released by Tonehammer as part of the Microhammer series in 2009, this is a classic experimental creation. We’ve gone back and souped it up, and added more advanced programming and a brand new special FX patch. Articulations include up to 10X round robin and 1-3 velocity layers. This library features 9 articulations, including kick, snare, rimshot, tom 1, tom 2, tom 3, hat/ride and crash.

The Phonautograms is a unique vocal instrument with a rather remarkable pedigre: chromatically sampled vocal sustains captured over 150 years ago. This original method of recording, called ‘Phonautography’ was invented in the early 1850s, by French inventor Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville. The sounds were captured by projecting the voice and other sounds into a cylindrical horn attached to a stylus, which in transfered the vibration into lines over the surface of oil lamp soot-blackened sheets of paper. These raw archival recordings were preserved by the French Academy of Sciences and finally decoded by First Sounds with the help of laser scanning equipment at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

We chose one of the very earliest human sound recordings - a simple vocal scale sung by Martinville himself in a recording called Gamme de la Voix (or "range of voice"). We then hand-crafted each of these samples by splicing, editing and manipulating raw sound into a fully playable chromatic solo vocal instrument. But that's just where we started. Next, we took that modified sound and warped it beyond all recognition using a variety of DSP and sound design techniques to create a diverse and compelling range of different ambient soundscapes, sonic textures, tonal pads, synths, atmospheres, drones and resynthesized drums. We began with the individual notes that we were able to isolate from the source and loop to allow sustained playing. Our goal was to preserve the character and qualify of the sound just as it was for the main "Gamme de la Voix" sustaining vocal instrument. We then branched out widely, using all of the modern sonic manipulation tools at our disposal to craft 31 unique ambient synths, pads, drones, atmospheres and soundscapes as well as 41 electro drum kit sounds, including kicks, snares, hats, fx and more. This new content is totally unrecognizable from its humble origins, but the old soul of the sound somehow seems to carry through.

Special thanks to First Sounds, an informal collaborative of audio historians, recording engineers, sound archivists, scientists, individuals and organizations who aim to make mankind’s earliest sound recordings available to all people for all time. First Sounds was founded in 2007 by David Giovannoni, Patrick Feaster, Richard Martin and Meagan Hennessey.

The Holy Ambiences library is an ambient pad, drone and soundscape instrument that we cultivated from some rather strange Christmas carol recordings that we cooked up, warped and manipulated. This odd little sound set was originally just one part of a strange collection of quasi-musical oddities mostly captured in one epic recording session somewhere around Christmas time, involving lots of Belgian beer and a few of our closest friends. These morphable custom ambiences were created by heavily, heavily, heavily manipulating a tiny, tiny slice of a certain old Christmas masterpiece. Refined to its absolutely purest form like some strange, precious and rare unstable element, only the smallest quantity is needed to unleash the true raw textural power contained within. Christmas power.

Each of these ambiences features multi-layer cross-fading and filter morphing for full expression and dynamic control. They can also be used individually as background drones, since each one is a standard format wav file with embedded loop points. Originally released by Tonehammer in 2009, we've updated the library to include a variety of useful performance shaping features and additional content.

Mike's cat Snack is a rather vocal and demanding studio companion. Chris and Gregg have often dared Mike to turn her into a library for years, so we finally flipped on our trusty field recorder to capture a few raw cat vocalizations just for fun. We then started exploring the audio with a few digital manipulation tricks to see where that would take us. After a bit of creative sound design, a cool little batch of ambiences and electro drum kit elements was born. We hope you enjoy this little snack-sized packet of sonic goodness.

This library's kontakt presets include a variety of performance controls to shape attack, release, pitch shifting, crescendo swelling and other automatable parameters. We've manipulated the raw source material to generate unique electro percussion kit elements, sustaining pads, organs and "synth" drones and of course, included a small collection of simple cat meow sound effects that we built these instruments from. It's compatible with the full version of Kontakt 3.5 or later. It can also be easily converted to other sampler formats and the audio files can be accessed in just about any audio software.

Fun fact: Snack will pretty much do anything for fish, including literally jumping through hoops, despite being rather well-fed. Check out the goofy little video of Snack in action that inspired us to make this fun little sample library. The jingle hoop you see Snack jumping through in the video came from a float in the San Francisco Chinese New Years parade was actually sampled a bit for our comprehensive "Shake" percussion library.
