Xiaotian ShiXiaotian Shi began his music journey at the age of 5 when he started learning the piano. Having attended the Royal College of Music, JD between 2004-2008, Xiaotian studied composition with Paul Patterson and piano with Rustem Hayroudinoff at the Royal Academy of Music, London under a full scholarship.

Winner of the prestigious Transatlantic International Film Music Competition in 2013, being the youngest ever winner, the competition was judged by high profile composers including Jan Kacsmarek, Marco Beltrami and Robert Townson. Xiaotian has since worked on multiple international high profile projects.

Xiaotian was also the 1st Prize Winner of the AASO International Composition for Orchestra Competition in 2008, where his orchestral work “Living My Dream” was performed under the baton of David Benoit in LA.

In 2014, he worked extensively on Pierce Brosnan’s feature thriller November Man with the Oscar Nominated composer Marco Beltrami, Xiaotian composed over 30 minutes of music for the film. The soundtrack is released on Varese Sarabande.

Xiaotian composed numerous international TV commercial campaigns including Muller De Luxe starring Nicole Scherzinger, Forevermore Diamond “The Promise”, NBA’s Kobe Bryant ‘Welcome Back’, Aquafresh “Captain Aquafresh”. Timotie “Symphony of Oils’ and Nestle’s ‘Pure Life’.

As a composer for TV, Xiaotian’s music has already been featured on great number of TV shows across the world. Featured channels includes BBC, Fox, TCL, AMC, Discovery Channel, National Geographic and NBC.

Currently Xiaotian is the Fellow in Screen and Media Music Composition at the University of Cambridge, where he lectures and run the media composition workshops.
