Quadral was created by Nathan Boler using a variety of hardware and soft synths, FX plugins, pedalboards, guitars, pianos, and field recordings. Nathan is a composer, producer and sound designer based in North Carolina. He received a music business degree in 2013 and then began actively traveling to China, Mexico, Europe, and across the USA to compose original music, capture field recordings, and design ambient sounds.
Nathan's professional experience ranges from music creation for virtual reality, games, short films, and podcasts, to capturing new instrument recordings and filming videos for Soundiron. When not working on the next Soundiron project, Nathan posts his original music ideas to Spotify and Youtube for the love of the game. He also enjoys cooking, biking, weight lifting, and watching old movies with his wife and their pet instruments.
The main user interface is built around four separate quadrants, an assignable XY Pad, quick modulator + filter routing menus, and arpeggiator system to expand your creative potential. Each layer in Quadral has fully independent sound-shaping options including Attack, Release, Offset, Pitch and Pan. Every quadrant has its own individual filter with 39 built-in filter types, as well as modulators using a variety of sources: LFO, ADSR and Velocity with 5 selectable targets: Volume, Pitch, Pan, Filter Frequency, Filter Resonance.
The central XY Pad can be used in a variety of ways but defaults as volume control between the 4 layers. Each axis can be customized to affect a different parameter and can be used to control filters or a select amount of FX options. Rhythmic motion can also be added to the XY Pad, automatically adjusting each axis in a tempo-syncable way. You can also limit the X and Y range to create new patterns and fluctuations in tone.
You can set up dynamic patterns with our integrated ARP arpeggiator system, featuring a suite of abilities like rhythm, direction, swing and randomization. The easy Glide feature is also included, instantly turning this machine into a monophonic legato/portamento instrument with adjustable pitch bend speed control. Dive in to tweak and automate every parameter with total control over every detail, or just hit the Random button to instantly generate an infinite variety of new sound, parameter and dynamic modulator combinations. The Macro knobs to the left and right of the XY Pad are used to adjust volume LFO depth and speed parameters with a single control if Volume LFO routing is enabled.
Quadral ships with over 200 Factory Presets in 6 categories, each one lovingly crafted. They can be easily perused using the Preset Browser. You can also save new patches you’ve made using the browser, or share presets with other users. Finally, don’t forget to fire up the FX rack panel and load your synth up with dozens of DSP effects, including convolution reverb with over 100 of our custom real-world and special FX spaces to perfect your sound.
The interface is rounded-out by our modular FX rack panel, with 18 different DSP effect modules that you can assign in any of 10 available slots, in any order that you wish. You’ll find classic phaser, flanger, delay, distortion, amp and cab simulators, compressors, EQ, rotator and so much more. The Reverb effect includes our favorite convolution reverb impulse responses, including 99 different rooms, halls, chambers and outdoor environments, plus another 40 custom FX impulses to radically transform the sound and open up whole new worlds of musical possibility. We’ve added a great bank of FX rack chain factory presets to get you started!
This library is designed for the full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5.8 or later. Kontakt is an industry-standard advanced virtual instrument software platform. You can view screenshots of this library's custom graphical user interface in the image gallery above. This library is packed with features to provide you a wide range of sound shaping parameter controls, each one totally automation-ready in your host environment or Kontakt's stand-alone mode. Composing With Quadral
"A fantastic flagship for the new series, this character-filled piano is the heart of Autumn 1958. But the hybrid capabilities of the engine, the pads, atmospheres, and sound design from the Soundiron team are the unexpected delights that take this library in exciting and unique directions."
