The Struck Grand delves deep into the fine art of piano abuse. This 9 GB virtual prepared piano library explores unusual piano string articulations, including mallet strikes, finger mutes, plucks, steel slide bends, bass string scrapes, harmonics, metal hammer hits and other exotic playing methods. We sampled this 1926 Steinway Model L parlor grand piano in detail, capturing more than 4000 samples covering the full 88-key range. This Kontakt instrument library shines as both a melodic tuned percussion instrument and a massive stringed zither, with a broad pitch range, expressive dynamic responsiveness and a rich, complex musical character.
The Struck Grand features extraordinary new control systems that unlocks new creative possibilities. The new "Layer Builder" system allows you to blend up to 12 independent articulation sound layers. The Gliss/Strum Creator system performs life-like strums and string glisses, with key and chord constraining, stroke direction, alternation, speed, dynamic sequencing, arpeggiation, palm muting and more. Each parameter can be automated on the fly, allowing incredibly organic performances.
The Struck, Harmonic, Mallet and Gliss elements are perfect for dramatic and suspenseful scoring, while the Steel Hammer, Slide and Picked sections offer a nuanced classical feel. With rumbling bass and glistening highs, we've captured each articulation up close with incredible presence, detail and clarity. There's also a bonus selection of atmospheric pads, tonal drones, and evolving soundscapes that allow custom morphing and shaping in real-time. You'll also find fully automatable LFO, EQ, filter, custom room/FX reverb types and more.

This library is designed for the full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt 4.2 or later. Kontakt is an industry-standard advanced virtual instrument software platform. You can view screenshots of this library's custom graphical user interface in the image gallery above. This library is packed with features to provide you a wide range of sound shaping parameter controls, each one totally automation-ready in your host environment or Kontakt's stand-alone mode. Learn more about Kontakt by Clicking Here.
This is a standard Kontakt open-format library, so the free Kontakt Player does not fully support it and can only run it in a limited "demo mode". However, the sample directories are unlocked so you can use them in other wav-compatible software, sampler and synth formats. The special Libraries tab doesn't support this open-format Kontakt library, but you can use the standard File browser tab and import this library into the Kontakt Quickload window for easy loading and navigation.
